Case study - Adding interest to a large garden

The Brief

A couple with a large expanse of lawn but little interest or colour in the garden. The contorted willow and Choisyas were to be kept and integrated into the design. They wanted to keep the existing patio but enhance the remainder of the garden with blocks of colour.

Our Solution

We created geometrical planting areas to allow for planting in blocks of colour. A brick mowing strip was constructed to define the edge of the beds and facilitate easy mowing and maintenance of the lawn edges. A simple stainless steel water feature was chosen to be included in one of the blocks of planting creating interesting reflections, introducing the tranquil sound of flowing water and by lighting this the night time interest in the garden was enhanced.
